Royals Salvador Perez Goes Yard In Fridays Win

Royals' Salvador Perez Goes Yard in Friday's Win

Salvador Perez's Home Run Helps Royals Secure Victory

On Friday, Salvador Perez, the Kansas City Royals' star catcher, hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving his team a 3-2 lead over the Detroit Tigers. The Royals went on to win the game 5-3, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Perez's Homer Propels Royals to Victory

Perez's home run was his sixth of the season and second in as many games. It came off Tigers' starting pitcher Drew Hutchison on a 2-1 count. The homerun was a towering shot to left field, landing in the Royals' bullpen.

The Royals went on to add two more runs in the seventh inning on a single by Whit Merrifield and a sacrifice fly by Ryan O'Hearn. The Tigers scored one run in the eighth inning, but it was not enough to overcome the Royals' lead.

Brad Keller started for the Royals and pitched five innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out five batters and walked two. Richard Lovelady, Scott Barlow, and Josh Staumont combined to pitch four innings of relief, allowing one run on four hits. Staumont earned his second save of the season.

What the Homerun Means for Perez and the Royals

Perez's home run was a big moment for both him and the Royals. For Perez, it was his first home run since April 16th and snapped an 0-for-12 skid.

For the Royals, it was a much-needed win after losing three straight games. The victory improved their record to 11-16 on the season.

The Royals will look to build on their win when they face the Tigers again on Saturday. Brad Keller will start for the Royals, while the Tigers will send out Matthew Boyd.
