Check Twice - Save a Life! Motorcycles Are Everywhere

A Motorcycle Safety Awareness Campaign

Launched in 1982 by the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association

The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association (MMA) is pleased to announce the launch of their new Motorcycle Safety Awareness campaign for 2014. This campaign is a continuation of the successful "Check Twice - Save a Life" campaign that was launched in 1982 by then MMA Chairman Bob Doiron.

The "Check Twice - Save a Life" campaign is designed to raise awareness among drivers about the importance of sharing the road with motorcycles. The campaign includes a variety of materials, including bumper stickers, signs, and other products, that aim to reduce motorcycle accidents, injuries, and fatalities.

Since its launch in 1982, the "Check Twice - Save a Life" campaign has distributed over 2 million bright yellow bumper stickers. These stickers have been placed on cars, trucks, and trailers throughout the state of Massachusetts and beyond.

Motorcycles Are Everywhere

The "Check Twice - Save a Life" campaign is based on the simple premise that motorcycles are everywhere. This is a fact that many drivers often forget or ignore. As a result, motorcyclists are often at risk of being involved in accidents.

There are a number of reasons why drivers may not see motorcycles. These reasons include:

  • Motorcycles are smaller than cars and trucks, making them more difficult to see.
  • Motorcycles are often hidden in blind spots.
  • Drivers may be distracted by other things, such as their cell phones or the radio.

It is important for drivers to be aware of the dangers that motorcyclists face. By being more attentive and aware of their surroundings, drivers can help to prevent motorcycle accidents.

What Drivers Can Do to Help

There are a number of things that drivers can do to help keep motorcyclists safe. These include:

  • Check twice before turning or changing lanes. This is the most important thing that drivers can do to prevent motorcycle accidents.
  • Be aware of blind spots. Motorcycles are often hidden in blind spots, so it is important to be aware of these areas when driving.
  • Avoid distractions. When driving, it is important to focus on the road and avoid distractions such as cell phones and the radio.
  • Be courteous to motorcyclists. Motorcyclists are just as entitled to the road as cars and trucks. Be courteous to motorcyclists and share the road with them.

By following these simple tips, drivers can help to keep motorcyclists safe and prevent motorcycle accidents.
